After my divorce from my first wife. I have spent two years on dating sites to find my perfect women and with no luck, I'm still single.
I decided to completely give up, I guess I'm never going to find myself a perfect beautiful wife. I'm destined to be alone. I think I was wrong about that.
It was nearing my thirtieth birthday, me and a few friends decided to go out for a few drinks to celebrate. Unknown to me, my friends were planning not to meet me at our usual place, instead they sent a blind date to meet me.
As I stood waiting at the bar, wondering what could have delayed my friends, when a beautiful women approached me, "Hi, you must be Ben" she said with a smile, " I'm your blind date, Melanie, happy thirtieth birthday from your friends". I was gobsmacked! Stood up by my friends on my thirtieth and they send me a blind date as my birthday present? Maybe they have had enough of me being single or is this a joke?
I order a drink for Melanie, and discovered that she's cousin's with one of my friends, Paul, and that she has come home to visit family for a couple of weeks as she lives in Spain. We talked all night.
At the end of the night, she gave me her number. I couldn't believe it! Why would someone so beautiful want to be with a guy like me?
When I next saw my friends, I gave them an earful as I couldn't get Melanie out of my head. Paul suggested I call her before she leaves. Apparently, she told Paul, that she enjoyed the night with me and hope to get to know me more.
I felt the same too but I wasn't so sure if I wanted a long distance relationship.
I called Melanie and arranged to meet again before she returned to Spain. This time, I thought, I'm going to be honest and tell her that I like her but unsure about long distance relationships, if we are going to start one.
We talked all night again, and we both agreed that a long distance relationship will be hard and possibly that it won't work, so we decided to stay friends.
For three years, me and Melanie stayed in contact, until I found her on my doorstep. She couldn't take it no more being away from me and always thought of the what if's, so she decided to give up her life in Spain and return home to Britain.
Five years later, I asked Melanie to become me wife.
